All of the main actors are first rate but it’s Marlon Brando who steals the film with his impassioned portrayal of antihero Terry Malloy. His tender scenes with Eva Marie Saint and the heartbreaking ‘I could have been a contender’ speech changed cinema cementing his status as a Hollywood icon.
